Epistle to RiverStone January 22, 2026

Hello Church Family,

Acts 2:42 (ESV)

42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.

It isn’t an accident that one of the things that the early church dedicated themselves to was prayer. As we read throughout the New Testament, we see stories of Jesus taking time to get away by himself and pray. Jesus would spend time praying; before he began his earthly ministry, after performing miracles, before performing miracles, really in all things he would pray. Sometimes Jesus would go off by himself to pray, other times he would pray with the disciples.

We are to always look to Jesus as an example for how to live our lives. We can see from this example that we are called to be a people of prayer. We are called to be a people who seek God first in all things. We are called to be a people who intercede for our family, friends and neighbors. We are called to be a people who seek God’s will before any decision we make. We are called to be a people of prayer.

What does that mean for each of us practically? One of the things we are beginning here at RiverStone is a prayer ministry. This is a group of people who are dedicating themselves to pray for our church, our leadership and the future of RiverStone Church. It may look like praying over the prayer requests we receive each week. It may be walking through the building on Sunday mornings before service and praying over it and all the people who will be there. It may look like being part of prayer gatherings where we come together to pray.

If you want to be part of the Prayer Team at RiverStone, I want to invite you to respond to this email with “Count Me In.” We have a night of prayer and worship coming up on Wednesday January 28th at 6 PM that everyone in our church and community is invited to. We will spend time praying for our church, our community, our schools and neighbors.

Yours in Christ,

Pastor Jeremy
