Hello Church Family,
On my first Sunday at RiverStone multiple people said two words to me “Welcome Home.” These two words are very simple but have a profound meaning. Home is more than just the place you lay your head at night. Home is a place of refuge and a people that you share life with. My family and I are very thankful to call RiverStone and the Farmington community home. We have felt welcome here and we love the beauty of this area and the snow fall from last week. Thank you for being a welcoming church and for helping us to feel at home.
Hebrews 13:1-3 says,
Let brotherly love continue. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body.
We as a people of God are called to share brotherly love and to show hospitality with strangers. The question for each of us is do we live by this passage of scripture every day of our life and in the life of the church? How do we care for our neighbors every day? How are we called to serve in the life of RiverStone and in our community? Does our community see RiverStone as a church that shows hospitality to strangers?
Everyone who walks in the doors of our church, the Overflow Free Store, or Neighborhood Dinner should feel at home. We are called to invite everyone we know to join us at church. We should have a culture of invitation within RiverStone Church. We invite because we believe that everyone needs to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ and all are in need of salvation. Pray this evening and weekend about who God is asking you to invite to church. Take the first step and invite them to join you and allow the Holy Spirit to do the rest.
Yours in Christ,
Pastor Jeremy
