Being thankful isn’t just for the Thanksgiving holiday. Scripture tells us to be “thankful in everything, in all circumstances” (I Thessalonians 5:18).
A little song we sang back in the 70’s that Evie Tornquist made popular was “Be Thankful For the Good Things That You’ve Got”.
“Oh be thankful for the good things that you’ve got
Oh be thankful for the good things that you’ve got.
The good things that you’ve got are for many just a dream.
So be thankful for the good things that you’ve got.”
There are a million things that we can often find to be unthankful for. But, if we just look right outside our doors on any given day we can see people wandering the streets that would be thrilled with the many good things that we’ve got! We need to think on those things more often.
I don’t know if life is really EASY for anyone. We all have things we need or that we struggle with. But, I do know that I have a God that
“is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.”
(Ephesians 3:20). That’s something to be thankful for right there!
This Holiday season let’s remember to not always be asking, but to actually take the time to say ‘Thank You’ for all the good things that we’ve got!
