He is Alive

On Easter Sunday we arrive at the destination of our journey: the empty tomb. Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came at dawn and found an earthquake, an angel like lightning, guards fallen in fear, and the words that changed everything — he is not here, for he has risen. They were invited to see the empty place where he lay, told to go quickly and tell the disciples, and on the way they met the risen Jesus himself. Later, on a mountain in Galilee, Jesus gave the Great Commission, calling his followers to four things: go to all people, make disciples of Christ rather than of ourselves, baptize as a public declaration of an inward reality, and teach God's Word as the source of truth. His final promise is the one we stand on still: I am with you always, to the end of the age.
