True confession is possible only because of Jesus' death on the cross, where he took on the sins of the world: past, present and future. Confession often starts in private as we admit our sins to God, turn from our own way and receive his forgiveness and peace. Confession also means openly declaring our faith, as we do when we say "Jesus is Lord" or recite the Apostles' Creed. This message invites us out of the darkness and into the light of God's grace.
