Hello Church Family,
I pray that things are going well for you in San Juan County. The time since being in South Africa has been filled with preparation, times of worship and lots of meetings. We’re here at the General Conference of the Global Methodist Church directing the future of the church for the next six years. It is a humbling opportunity to be selected as a delegate and a big job to try and make sure we get things correct. It has not been easy being here and there have been some health issues with members of the delegates from all over the world. Please keep praying for all 1300 people who are here for general conference. We still have a couple more days of work left to go and very full days before starting the trip back home.
One of the great things for me has been meeting all of our brothers and sisters from all over the world. We are a global connected church and have members of our body that worship in beautiful buildings and others that meet outside under trees. We have different skin colors, we dress differently from each other, we may speak different languages, and we have different cultures. All those are things that could cause conflict or difficulty, but they haven’t caused any of those issues. Instead, we are worshipping together in different languages, knowing that we are worshipping the same God. We acknowledge that we have been brought together because of the shed blood of Jesus Christ. The work that Jesus did by dying on the cross 2,000 years ago was done so that we could be reconciled to God and to each other.
I get to meet and talk to my brothers and sisters that I wouldn’t get to meet otherwise. I get to hear their stories of what God is doing in their lives, communities, churches and countries. I hear stories of hardship and difficulty from our brothers and sisters in countries that are closed to the Gospel. I hear stories of the Gospel message being spread all over the world. I have received more than one invitation to visit our family all over the world. We’ll be planning opportunities to go overseas and serve with our brothers and sisters in Christ.
I am grateful that I have had the opportunity to be here and I look forward to sharing with you all about the great things that God is doing all over the world.
Yours in Christ,
Pastor Jeremy
