Epistle to RiverStone September 10, 2026

Hello Church Family,

I wanted to share with you all some reflections I had during worship while at the Global Methodist Church General Conference in Johannesburg, South Africa last week. I pray that this encourages you.

Through flight delays the Spirit still moves

Through illness the Spirit still moves

Through hospitalization the Spirit still moves

Through muggings the Spirit still moves

Through disagreements the Spirit still moves

Through hurt feelings the Spirit still moves

Through arguments the Spirit still moves

Through misunderstandings the Spirit still moves

The enemy would like nothing more than for the things around us to distract our mission and purpose

The people called Global Methodist have a mission to accomplish.

The Holy Spirit has called us as we are in this new expression of Methodism

The Holy Spirit has brought us to Johannesburg, South Africa

The Holy Spirit has put the people in place who need to be here

Some of us have been brought out of our comfort zone

Some of us have been asked to serve in areas that we don’t feel equipped for

But we understand that if we have truly been called to this place and time that God will provide

We lean in on the Holy Spirit’s power.

We work to understand each other

We work to operate from a place of trust.

We work to build relationships that cross cultural, language, and geographic boundaries.

We don’t allow the things that try to keep us apart; separate us from the work we have to do.

We are on a holy mission and have a holy purpose.

May we who have answered the call to serve at the 2026 General Conference of the Global Methodist Church look back on this time and say we were there as the Spirit moved among us. We were there as walls were broken. We were there as healing happened. We were there as relationships were mended. We were there as we surrendered our wills for God’s will. We were there when the world saw what it means to be a people who are called by God and live out the Great Commission found in Matthew 28:18-20; to go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey all that Jesus taught.

May we be the type of people that change the world not because of anything we do but because we trust the God who created all things and know that our God can do immeasurably more than we can ask, think or imagine.

Yours in Christ,

Pastor Jeremy
