Epistle to RiverStone June 11, 2026

Hello Church Family,

Psalm 42:1–2 (ESV)

1               As a deer pants for flowing streams,

so pants my soul for you, O God.

2              My soul thirsts for God,

for the living God.

When shall I come and appear before God?

The psalmist understands that even in the midst of the chaos of life his soul still longs for God. That is an important part of the life of the believer. Our soul longs for the living God. Everything we do and say should reflect that longing for God. With our whole being we should long for God.

It’s easy to long for God when life is going well and everything is perfect. It can be difficult to have that longing for God when there is chaos all around us and we wonder if God even cares. God has told us that “He will never leave us or fail or forsake us.” This promise was given to Moses in Deuteronomy 31:6, to Joshua in Joshua 1:5,9 and then to Christians in Hebrews 13:5-6. If there is one thing we can count on is God being faithful to His promises.

You may wonder how to change your heart when it feels far from God. Practicing the spiritual disciplines is one way of bringing you back into fellowship with God. If we begin today to practice these, we are able to bring our lives back into alignment with God’s will for our life. The disciplines of Meditation, Prayer, Fasting, Study, Simplicity, Solitude, Submission, Service, Confession, Worship, Guidance, and Celebration should be part of our daily rhythm of life. They are tools to help you grow in your relationship with Jesus Christ.

Hopefully you are able to join us each week as we dive deeper into each of these disciplines and you can begin practicing them if they aren’t already part of your life.

Yours in Christ,

Pastor Jeremy
